 Piero's Daughters

My figures stare at something beyond the perspective fire. They might seem hieratic and alien. Their vacant look transcends the darkness of this world, but they are only the stylised symbol of beauty, beauty meant as simplification. A nose is ugly when it is long, big, gnarled, hooked… a beautiful nose is simple, linear. An example: me and the Apoxyomenos by Lysippos. Two peas in a pod. One is beautiful, one is ugly.
